We price our quilts by the square inch, and charge for needle and thread. Any additional services are added as needed. Edge-to-edge patterns are defined as those that start at the top edge and are the same over the entire quilt.
We charge $.025 per square inch. Generally, this is the same price for all patterns; however, if you select a particularly dense pattern, the cost per square inch is $.035. Quilting cost is calculated by length x width x .025 (or .035).
Batting is $15 per yard.
Thread cost is $5.00*.
Needle cost is $5.00.
*If we buy thread at your request, the cost of the spool becomes your thread fee. Once we finish quilting your quilt, we will give you the spool with the remaining thread.
Uh-oh! Math!
Let's say your quilt is 60" x 70". For a low to medium-density edge-to-edge project, your cost will be:
60 x 70 = 4200 square inches x .025 = $105
Thread - $5
New needle - $5
Batting - $15/yard x 2 yards = $30
Total cost for quilting your masterpiece: $145
Occasionally, our customers ask us to assemble backs or iron the top, back, or both. These are services we can do for you for a fee. Please note that these services are optional.
- Simple backing assembly $10 per seam (up to two seams).
- Centering a quilt on a back is $20. This is a complex process and is not guaranteed to be perfectly aligned.
- Quilt preparation (ironing, pressing seams, trimming excessive threads) is $25/hour with a minimum $25 charge.
- Binding. The initial sew-down is done by machine. We charge $0.50 per inch for machine-sewn finishing, or $1.00 per inch for hand-sewn finishing. We can also prepare your binding--cut, join, and press--even if you want to bind your quilt yourself. We charge $0.50 per inch to prepare your binding.
